How laser graphics work

Laser graphics, for example, text or a logo is created by two tiny computer-controlled mirrors that aim laser beam at a screen. The beam bounces of one mirror moving horizontally, then at certain angles, off another mirror moving vertically. This creates one projection point. The computer continues aiming mirrors to another point and so on, until our persistence of vision makes us see a graphic image on the screen. Laser beam show and shapes like laser cones and waves are created in the same way.

Scmove at a rate of around 30 to 60 thousand points per second and due to technical limitations those speeds cannot go significantly higher. Therefore to create more complex images you need to use additional scanners.

Unlike television picture which is made of dots, laser graphics is created by connecting the dots. This is why lasers cannot be used for playing video recordings. First, you have to create outlines of a photograph or a video recording. In case it is necessary to transform a photograph or a video recording into raster images, the resolution is about 80 times less detailed than standard television resolution. Such images can be used exclusively for special effects. For a normal projection it is recommended to use standards video projectors.

Laser graphics can be in the service of art. Since the artist himself most likely doesn’t know how to program lasers, there are experts ready and willing at his side. According to the artist’s instructions a piece of artwork can be brought to life using laser graphics.
